Collingwood Court Care Home North Shields

Collingwood Court Care Home North Shields

So, I was strolling down to the quayside the other day, you know, where the sun decides to make an appearance once in a blue moon. And there I was, minding my own business, when I thought to myself, "Hey, what's the deal with that place?" You know the one, Collingwood Court Care Home, right on the outskirts of North Shields. I mean, it's not like it's a secret society or anything, but it's not exactly the first thing that pops into your head when you think of North Shields, is it?

Now, I'm not one to pry, but curiosity got the better of me. I mean, who are these folks living there? What's it like inside? Is it like one of those fancy hotels they show on the telly, or is it more like a scene from a horror movie? (Kidding, kidding!)

So, I did what any curious cat would do. I gave them a call. And guess what? They were nice enough to let me pop in for a chat. I mean, who can resist my charm, right?

First Impressions

Alright, so I walk in, and it's not at all what I expected. I mean, it's clean, it's bright, and it's got this... I don't know, vibe. It's like walking into your grandma's house, but without the slightly overwhelming smell of freshly baked cookies (not that I'm complaining, mind you).

And the staff? They're buzzing around like bees in a hive, but in a good way. You know, like they actually want to be there. I mean, have you ever seen a happy care home worker? It's like they're breaking some sort of unwritten rule!

Meet the Residents

Now, let's talk about the stars of the show - the residents. I met Mabel, who's been there for ages (her words, not mine). She's got more stories than a library, and she's not afraid to share them. She told me about the time she snuck out to see the Beatles play at the old Majestic. I mean, can you even imagine?

Then there's Tom, the self-proclaimed king of the chessboard. He challenged me to a game, and let's just say, I'm not as good as I thought I was. He's got this twinkle in his eye, like he knows something you don't. It's kind of unnerving, but in a good way.

And the best part? They're all so... normal. I mean, they're just folks who happen to live in a care home. They've got their quirks, sure, but who doesn't?

What's the Deal?

So, I asked the big question. What makes Collingwood Court tick? Why is it so... nice? And you know what they said? It's all about the people. The staff, the residents, the families. They're all part of this big, happy (ish) family. They've got activities, they've got trips, they've even got a bloody pub quiz!

I mean, who knew care homes could be so... fun? I certainly didn't. But then again, I'm not one to judge. I mean, have you seen the state of my nan's house?

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it. My little adventure into the world of Collingwood Court Care Home. It's not the most glamorous place in North Shields, but it's certainly got its own charm. And who knows? Maybe one day, I'll be sitting there, challenging Tom to a rematch, and telling Mabel about the time I snuck out to see... well, whatever the modern equivalent of the Beatles is.

Until next time, folks. Stay curious!
