Havant Household Waste Recycling Centre Havant
So, there I was, on a sunny Saturday morning, armed with a week's worth of plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, and a mysterious, leaking bag that I really hoped wasn't what I thought it was. I was on a mission to the Havant Household Waste Recycling Centre, or as the locals call it, 'The Tip'.
Now, I've been living in Havant for a while now, but I'd always managed to avoid 'The Tip'. You know how it is, you put it off, and off, and then suddenly, you've got a small mountain of waste that's just begging to be recycled. So, off I went, ready to do my bit for the environment.
First Impressions
Pulling up to 'The Tip', I was pleasantly surprised. It's not your typical dumpster dive. No, this place was clean, well-organized, and even had a little café! I mean, who expects a recycling centre to have a café? But there it was, serving up hot drinks and a friendly smile. I was starting to like this place already.

I grabbed a coffee (because recycling is thirsty work, right?) and headed in. The signs were clear, the bins were color-coded, and there were even staff on hand to guide you if you were unsure. I felt like I'd stepped into a well-oiled recycling machine. It was almost... enjoyable?
Recycling: The Great Sort
Alright, so maybe 'enjoyable' is a stretch. But it was certainly easy. I mean, I've seen those videos of people recycling in other countries, and it's not always pretty. But here, it was straightforward. Glass here, plastic there, metal over there. And if you weren't sure, there were signs to tell you.
I even learned a thing or two. Did you know you can recycle pizza boxes? I mean, I knew you could recycle pizza, but the box? Who knew? And those little plastic trays that come with ready meals? They go in the plastic recycling, not the general waste. Who would've thought?

Side Note: The Mystery Bag
By the way, that mysterious, leaking bag? Turns out it was just some old clothes. Phew. I mean, I could've sworn I'd recycled that pair of jeans last week, but apparently not.
Havant's Hidden Gem
So, there you have it. The Havant Household Waste Recycling Centre, or 'The Tip' as I've come to affectionately call it, is not the dumpster dive I was expecting. It's clean, it's organized, and it's even got a café. It's like the recycling centre equivalent of a well-run library. Quiet, efficient, and surprisingly pleasant.
I mean, I'm not saying I'm going to start volunteering there or anything (although, I've heard they could use the help). But I will say, I've got a newfound respect for our local recycling centre. It's not just a place to dump our waste, it's a well-oiled machine, working hard to keep our planet clean. And that, my friends, is something worth recycling about.
