Belfast Doctors Out Of Hours North & West Belfast
So, there I was, late on a Saturday night, nursing a sprained ankle after a rather enthusiastic dance move gone wrong. I was cursing my lack of coordination, but more importantly, I was wondering, "Who do I call at this hour?"
That's when I remembered the Belfast Doctors Out Of Hours service. Now, I've heard about them, but you know how it is, you never think you'll need it until you're hopping around your kitchen like a one-legged flamingo.
Belfast Doctors Out Of Hours: Your Late-Night Healthcare Heroes
So, who are these mysterious doctors who work when the rest of us are partying or binge-watching Netflix? Let's dive in, shall we?

The Belfast Doctors Out Of Hours service is there for us when our usual GP is tucked up in bed, dreaming of stethoscopes and prescription pads. They cover North and West Belfast, which means they've got your back (or ankle, in my case) from the Antrim Road to the Falls.
But What Do They Actually Do?
Well, they're not there to fix your hangovers (sorry, students), but they do deal with all sorts of things that can't wait until morning. Think broken bones, chest pains, or little ones with high fevers. They're the A-team of the healthcare world, ready to roll out at a moment's notice.
Now, you might be thinking, "That's all well and good, but how do I get hold of them?" Easy peasy. Just call the Out of Hours number, which is 028 9079 9661. It's available from 6 pm to 8 am on weekdays, and all day at the weekend and on public holidays. See, I told you they were heroes.

But Wait, There's More!
As well as the phone service, they've also got a Walk-In Centre in the Royal Victoria Hospital. It's open from 8 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week. So, if you've got something that needs looking at, but it's not an emergency, you can pop in and see them. No appointment needed, just turn up and wait your turn.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "This all sounds great, but what if I need them and I'm not in Belfast?" Well, don't worry, they've thought of that too. They've got a Mobile Service that can come to you, if you're housebound or have mobility issues. Just give them a call and they'll sort it out.
And the Best Bit?
All of this is free at the point of delivery. That's right, you don't have to sell your kidney to pay for it. It's all part of the wonderful NHS here in Northern Ireland. So, next time you're in a pickle, don't forget, the Belfast Doctors Out Of Hours are there for you.
And as for my ankle? Well, let's just say I've got a newfound respect for crutches and a lot less sympathy for people who complain about their dancing. But that's a story for another time.
